Originally from the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, I moved to Colorado in 2010 to study massage therapy. Prior to landing in Colorado, I graduated cum laude from the College of William and Mary in 2008 with a degree in Psychology, and a passion for observing and learning more about the ways we sense and perceive the world within and around us.
I’ve always been interested in what’s happening “behind the scenes,” and learning about the body was no different. When I’ve dealt with physical ailments in the past, I found a greater journey into understanding the body than I ever anticipated. I had studied more of the “mind” aspect, but wanted to delve deeper into the spiritual and physical components of what makes us who we are. So, in 2010 I moved to Colorado to study more about the physical body at the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, graduating in 2011 with a certificate, and in 2012 with an associate’s degree.
Much of the various modalities I’ve studied have to do with a more holistic approach towards health and healing, meaning I believe the mind, body, and spirit are very much interconnected.
Sessions can be only energy balancing, or a combination of both energy balancing and massage. They can be 60 or 90 minutes, and include an energy balancing, followed by a mixture of the types of bodywork I feel like resonate best with each client, including Zen Shiatsu, Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and other energy modalities.
I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, AMTA, and board certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, NCBTMB.
Probably to learn every definition of the word love, and to realize that we are never separate from it or far from it.
Shalom. Sometimes I’ll be drawn to a word and look up various definitions of it. One time I was looking up shalom and always thought it to only mean “peace” or a friendly greeting. And I found one definition to be of “wholeness,” which to me lends right into being about peace. I love that aspect. Then “shalom” becomes a beautiful blessing.
When I was younger, I always loved willow trees. But we had a Maple tree in our yard and we called the seeds “Zizzers.” I loved watching them fall. I also have always been drawn to Japanese Maple Trees. So I’m probably going to have to say some kind of Maple.
I love to travel. I studied abroad in France, and spent a few months in Guatemala, but the furthest east I’ve been I think would have been Italy where I finally got to see Michelangelo’s Pieta. I went on a 4 week long European trip with extended family (including camping!), spent some time with family and friends in Central and Latin America, and had incredible eye opening experiences in Peru and Haiti for humanitarian trips. I’ve been blessed to have my view of the world transformed through travel.
Totally a dog person. We grew up with the sweetest Golden Retriever named Nevada. He had the heart of a puppy his entire life, and always squeaked when he woke us up in the mornings, or when we came home from being away. Every time I see a golden retriever, it reminds me of him and blesses my day.
